Residents want Kwa Vonza, Kitui County to be a thriving university town with a vibrant economy and green environment. A short form of the Urban Sustainability Review summarises their visions.
A range of stakeholders – including local leaders, university staff and students, and county and national government officials – have come together to formulate the vision for a future Kwa Vonza. They identified the town’s main sustainability challenges and solutions in an Urban Sustainability Review.
In a short form of the review, their priorities are summarised. These include improving water supply and distribution, as well as waste management in the town. The full report is available here (PDF).
“We will begin to address our priorities by strengthening water supply and safety at our public facilities, starting with rain-water harvesting and lighting at the Kwa Vonza Primary School, Dispensary, and Secondary School.”
